It’s a big bold vision. We don’t expect it to be achieved quickly or easily. But if it wasn’t big and bold it wouldn’t be much of a vision. And it’s been shaped by our experience of what God has shown.
It’s a vision shaped by our experience and prayer.
When we started out in East Reading we were simply responding to a call for help from one local school. It was an opportunity we could not ignore – but we had no idea where it would lead.
We soon saw how well received our sessions were by teachers and pupils. As other schools became interested we became more ambitious in our vision: for local churches to become fully engaged in supporting their local schools in the religious education and spiritual development of their pupils.
As we’ve worked with our vision we’ve seen huge benefits for both churches and schools when pupils learn about faith by encounters with people of faith. So now, as we encourage others to get involved with their own local schools through RE, our vision has grown – we think our approach is inspired. Using our methodology Christians from local churches can easily and effectively help make RE an exciting and potentially life-changing subject in schools.
We’ve seen vicars, ministers, priests and pastors take the initiative making our vision their vision in their locality. Read their stories.
